Neoma Athens
The architectural design and interior design of the Neoma hotel was undertaken by the architectural firm Dimitris Thomopoulos Architects. The building’s modern design, built all anew right from scratch, takes into account the specific character of the neighborhood and processes the link between the iconic Philopappou hill and the Acropolis with the urban fabric through its scale and structure. In a land with a continuous construction system and building conditions, the main aim in the synthesis is to clearly define the main solid part of the building and to highlight the individual units of the rooms on its views.
Two linear walls of coated concrete act as ‘holds’ in which the room openings are projected outwards, in the form of metal frames. These metal surfaces define areas of terraces and decorative elements of the view and direct the eye to towards the hill (on the north side) and the urban landscape (towards the south). Large openings give a sense of integration in the view.
