Marae Icon Villa

Rethymno, Crete 

Build on existing concrete frame. The formation of the spaces on an already existing concrete frame was the main challenge during the design process of Marae Icon Villa. The request was to design 5 ensuite bedrooms, one communal area and the whole landscape of the plot.

Due to the long and complex shape of the concrete frame, the rooms were divided on the left and right parts of the building, while on the center one communal area is placed that has a living room, a kitchen and a dining area. The facades were formed in order to turn the building towards the sea view, by creating a more sealed façade on the southeast side, where we find the main street and the entryways of the villas, and on the contrary adding big openings on the Northwest view, where we have the pool area.
