The proximity to the New Acropolis Museum and the visual connection to the Acropolis itself, have guided the architecture of the building. Highlighted by a bold frame, the balconies in the main façade reach out towards the Museum, maximizing the visual experience.
Within the frame nests a contemporary interpretation of the grid, using timber for contrast. The combination draws inspiration from the Greek hospitality architecture of the 60’s and 70’s. The main elevation allows permeability between the interior of the building and the urban space, in contrast to the introvert approach of the Syggrou Avenue elevation, were the back of house are situated.
The building expands into three clusters of guest rooms, in three separate levels, allowing a view to the archaeological findings situated within the site. The exposure initiates a dialogue with the urban environment, creating a new contemporary and easily accessible public space.
