Private Residence Refurbishment in Kardia

Thessaloniki 

The project is to redesign, refurbish and re-organize an existing two-story building with two identical apartments into a private two-story residence in Kardia community of the Thermi municipality in Thessaloniki. The main concept of the exterior design was based on the creation of a second, new and modern shell which will cover the existing one.

Its form arose from the already existing elements such as the roof slabs, the balconies, the main entrance with the staircase in the center of the building, the internal fireplaces on the two floors and the underground parking. The new external shell gives the impression that is floating, forming two white volumes delimited by the staircase zone. The volumes have solid sections, semi-permeable with the use of blinds or fully open, depending on the internal functions.
