Aqua Bay, Zante

“Aqua Bay” is a five star hotel that is mainly addressed to families and children. It is located on Tsilivi, Zante and covers a total area of 4200 sq. m. On its facilities are hosted 193 beds, reception and waiting rooms, 2 restaurants, a bar and 5 pools.

The complex consists of two separate buildings, which communicate through the common exterior area of the hotel, where three of the pools are located. The basic approach of the design proposal was the will to shape a calm and cozy environment, where the visitors could enjoy themselves after a long, tiresome day in the sweet uproar of the water park.

The lobby is a three dimensional visualization of the plan of a house. Here, the walls are “in absentia”. Traces of them only remain, on the ceiling and the floor. These combined with the usage of different materials and furniture, attribute to the space different qualities of rooms, while maintaining the unified perception of the plan. The whale illustration at the lobby, thematically inspired by chidrens’plays, pays homage to the element of water, one of the main themes of the hotel. This print on wooden panels, combined with the marble and wooden floor, with traditionally inspired and herringbone patterns respectively, are the first elements associated with the perception of the space by the visitor. Throughout the choice of furniture and light fittings, custom made objects were designed, in order to serve the concept of “past decades house”. The co-existance of contemporary and traditional construction elements is expressed with consistency in every aspect of the space.
